I am thrilled to offer for sale this original 1974 DeTomaso Pantera, finished in Yellow with black leatherette interior.
The Pantera was designed by the legendary Turin based “Carrozzeria Ghia” and quickly became one of the DeTomaso’s biggest successes, launched in 1970 in Modena and then at the New York Motor shows, it was seen as a heralded design was sleeker and meaner than its’ predecessors and held its own against the other Italian supercars of the era.
Also boasting a more modern monocoque chassis design, thrust down the road with the powerful 351ci (7ltr) Ford Cleveland V8 engine and mated to a ZF 5 speed gearbox. With all the chic of the finest Italian, but roared with the power and speed of American muscle, it proved to be a winning combination that still captures the imagination today.
This Series1 was delivered new to a Mr. Corcorian of Escanaba in Michigan, USA, where it went through only a few keepers hands and most of its’ life living in the States, with the last American owner giving the car a full restoration back to the 2000’s, the quality of this work still shows today.
Travelling to European shores, the current owner tracked it down after spending many hours searching for the right Pantera, choosing this car over others available at the time based on the quality of its’ previous restoration, including the finest attention to detail that can be seen under the bonnet and through to the entire drivetrain being machined polished to perfection, that combined with this cars qualities allowing the fullest driving enjoyment and that has been the case for the past few years.
The vendor has also spent his time and attention to areas, that like any classic car, will always require mechanical maintenance, whilst also adding small cosmetic touches such as a pair of original wider rear alloys, Moto-lita style leather rim steering wheel and the small chrome bumperettes as opposed to the large Federal spec impact bumpers. Whilst these all go to make the car a lot more impactful, the original steering wheel, impact bumpers and rear wheels are still with the car.
Supplied with the car are two folders of history, photos of the car in the States and archives of works giving a thorough and clearer picture of the time, energy and money lavished on this fantastic Pantera.
The car runs like a dream and with the Cleveland engine having a bespoke exhaust, sounds amazing as well!
Now registered in the UK, the car will also come supplied with the perfect and not inexpensive registration – “9PAN”
